Do people look at what we do in the church and think it's a little strange?
We sing, out loud - in Public.
It could very well be the things that make this gathering strange also give it life.
· Worship is not about me - it's about you
· A good snake can turn bad
· All of Life is worship and our heart's attitude is more important than the gift of worship we bring.
Psalm 40:3
He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise
to our God. Many
people will see this and worship him. Then they will trust the LORD.
When we worship right many will be impacted…
David is not saying look at me I've got it all figured out, it is a…
1. Declaration of God's goodness vss. 1-6
God, in spite of the circumstances…
heard me,
lifted me,
set my feet on something solid,
put in me a new song,
performed many wonders and…
has plans for me.
David is looking to God, not those who would hunt him down.
2. An admission of failure vss. 12, 14, 15 & 17
David had been and was NOW in trouble of some kind
David comes clean.
Our willingness to come clean is often a point of help to others not rejection.
3. A cry for help vss. 11, 13, 14, 15 & 17
Admitting and crying out for help is not the same thing.
Admitting is looking at myself - crying out changes the focus.
4. Invitation to others vss. 3, 9, 10 & 16
Praise of God in the midst of hardship is a testimony to God's faithfulness.
In the New Testament, we are told that the church has been created by God to share the news of the Kingdom with others.
10Through Christians like yourselves gathered in churches, this extraordinary plan of God is becoming known and talked about even among the angels!
Our Praise needs to point people to Jesus.
"Gentlemen I am nothing; you are nothing; God is everything."
