You can do something religious and still miss the mark!

"What a Friend We Have in Jesus".

Genesis 4:1-12

There are several things we can learn from this passage.

1.     Both had spiritual interests vs. 3 & 4

They both brought an offering to God.

Up to this time there was no mention of any tangible offering.

We are wired for worship.

2.     Who and How we worship matters vs 3

Cain brought SOME
Abel brought the FAT portions from his FIRSTBORN

It was not about Abel and Animals or Cain and Grain, it was about their heart attitude and the priority of their offering.

God saw what was behind the offering and rejected being second to anything.

3.     When God convicts He always offers redemption.  Vs 7 If you do what is right…

There was still an opportunity to worship right.  There is restoration for all.

"Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me. I once was lost but now am found, was blind but now I see!"

Worship is an offering and chance to tell God where he is in your life.

Romans 12:1 1So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. The Message

4.  The Best form of worship is Obedience. Romans 12:1
