Seeking Hope ~
These men who are called, three kings, Wise Men or Magi set out to find what they believed to be a new born king - the Messiah.
The "Wise Men" were seekers after something beyond themselves. They spared nothing to discover the King of the Jews.
They were awed by whom they found and they worshipped the Baby Jesus.
Instead of professional rescuers, helicopters, cell phone-signal-tracking technology, drones and press conferences; angels, stars and dreams dominated this search.
Many people who are seeking are like the chicken or the pig, when it comes to a bacon and eggs breakfast.
The chicken is involved, but the pig is committed
The Wise Men were committed.
What makes a committed seeker?
1. Humility Psalm 10:4
Many times we come to God with our agenda
I want to know God, I want God's power in my life, I want the benefits of Jesus coming and His sacrificial death, but I want it on my terms.
2. Sincerity
"Are you really listening? Are you really interested in doing anything about this…?"
Sometimes we want to be seen as a seeker
Sincerity is measured by ACTION!
Committed seekers eventually take a step towards Jesus.
What makes a committed rather than an involved seeker?
Humility, Sincerity and …
ª
Diligence
ª
Wholly Committed
ª
seeking as a priority
Both the religious leaders and King Herod had the same information that the Wise Men had - what was different was their hearts.
There is a huge difference between claiming to be spiritual and allowing it to effect any change in our lives.
Those who want to be Seekers after God must:
þ In Humility surrender their agenda and …
þ Sincerely take action and like the Wise Men they will not only see God…
…but receive direction from Him as well. Vs 12
