There is excitement in the air.
“The whole city was STIRRED UP.”
We get stirred up about the weirdest things…
One week after they were
stirred up to praise Jesus, they were stirred to shout again --
From Praise to Persecution
When it became apparent that Jesus had a purpose beyond theirs they abandon him.
The Hebrew word "Hallelujah" is made up of two elements.
The first is the verb "praise" The verb is an imperative, a command.
They are saying, "Do it!"
The second element of the term "Hallelujah" is a shortened form of a divine name. "Yah" ("jah") is short for "Yahweh,"
There is no Question that we are commanded to praise and what the focus of that praise needs to be but…
We need to learn Why, When, How and Where we are to praise God.
1. The Psalms give us an incredible list of why we praise God.
·
·
We are to praise God for His Character and Actions
2. When should we praise him?
· In the Day Psalm 65:8
· At Night Psalm 16:7
·
In the Heat of the Battle
· Always Psalm 34:1
3. How should we Praise Him?
· Psalm 33:2, 51:15, 92:1, 71:23, 96:8.119:108, 102:18, 119:14, 134:2, 150:3-5
4. Where Should we praise him?
· Psalm 9:14, 89:15, 149:1
·
·
·
·
So What?
How can I be more than part of the "stirred up" crowd?
1. Make all of life a praise offering to God
2. Share the same passion for God that you have for other things
in your life.
3. Look to Christ as more than a need meeter but as the Awesome God that he is who cares about your EVERY need.
Praise is a bold declaration in the midst of a world that may not even care that God is alive,
